Description of the Hp test.
Haptoglobin (Hp) typing is easily and rapidly performed from 20 ul of serum or plasma using an ELISA based assay. Serum or plasma may be collected days or weeks prior to the test and need only be stored at 4o C until the test is performed. The accuracy of this ELISA in determining the Hp phenotype has been validated in over 8000 individuals with diabetes from seven different clinical studies. The Hp test will determine the patient's Hp phenotype: Hp 1-1, Hp 2-1 or Hp 2-2. On the basis of this information the physician can assess the patient's risk of diabetic complications, and thereby aid the physician in suggesting the best course of treatment (See Disclaimer).
The ELISA kit and indications for its use are covered by a wide portfolio of approved and pending patents. The purchase or use of our products or services is subject to execution of a designated agreement. ORDERS CANNOT BE ACCEPTED FROM THE USA, SPAIN OR PORTUGAL.
